 Metal Framing Floor

The Dietrich TradeReady® Floor System
It's stronger, lighter, less expensive and installs faster!

We use Dietrich TradeReady Floor System in every home we build.  Not only does it provide higher quality, but it is 100% recycled steel!

Even though steel costs less, the Dietrich TradeReady® Floor System makes wood seem "cheap" by comparison. Dietrich steel framing is quieter, stronger, lighter, less expensive, non-combustible and faster to install. Plus, The TradeReady® Floor System* offers you longer spanning capabilities, fire and insect resistance and superior dimensional tolerances.

This floor system is meant to aid in the transition to steel from traditional framing products. It was developed to be more sensitive to all trades; plumbing, electric, mechanical, and HVAC contractors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1: Why build with steel?
Steel joists are cost effective, lightweight, easy to handle, and manufactured in conditions that allow strict quality control. When designed properly, the result is solid, non-combustible, and durable. Because steel can be pre-cut to desired lengths and is a stable material, you don't need to sort out defective pieces and can erect a frame faster. Also, steel scrap has value and can be recycled.

2: Will my home look different than the rest in my development?
No, only if you want it to. In fact, because of steel's properties your architect can design your home with larger open spaces. Once your home is complete, the joists are hidden below the finished floors. All you'll notice is how solid and quiet your floors are.

3: What about the environmental impact of steel construction?
Dietrich Steel Joists are made from 100% recycled steel, offering an environmentally sound home framing alternative. Steel framing scrap is a valuable commodity that should not end up in a landfill.

4: What about cost?
The price of steel has been relatively constant over the last decade. While the price of traditional framing materials has been erratic and growing at a rate much faster than inflation, steel prices have only experienced small quarterly adjustments. Builders interviewed nationwide have affirmed that framing with steel is less expensive than traditional framing.

5: Will steel joists interfere with portable radios, phones, or TV reception?
No. Waves pass through the space between the joists, allowing the use of all radios, phones, and television sets in your home.

6: Will my joists rust?
No. Dietrich Steel Joists are formed from galvanized steel, which is not susceptible to rust.

7: Will steel joists affect the indoor air quality?
No. Steel framing is recommended by the Healthy House Institute for chemically sensitive and environmentally conscious homeowners who seek good indoor air quality. Steel joists do not need to be treated for termites and are free of resin adhesive and chemicals normally present in other construction materials.
